About Jan Schneider

Jan Schneider is a summa cum laude graduate of Yale Law School and earned a Ph.D. in political science from Yale University. Prior to that, Jan graduated summa cum laude from Brown University in three years; earned a Masters in International Relations and a Certificate from the Russian Institute of Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs; and received a Certificate in International Organizations from the University of Geneva in Switzerland.

Jan has been actively involved in law and politics from local to international levels for many years. In addition to practicing law, Jan is the author of books and articles on domestic and international environmental law, baby boomer law and politics, and other contemporary legal and political issues. She has served on the boards of the American Society of International Law, International Law Association (American Branch), Council on Ocean Law, Law of the Sea Institute, Roshan Cultural Heritage Institute, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, First Responders for Democracy, Gulf Coast Marine Institute South, Henry Lawrence Youth Foundation, POW-MIA Sarasota Chapter, Protect Our Waters, Sarasota-Manatee National Organization for Women, Suncoast Commission on the Status of Women, and United Nations Association of the National Capitol Area, among others.

Called a “wonk” and a “wonk with heart,” Jan will serve the people of the Florida 16th Congressional District intelligence, dedication and compassion.
